Expired.Food – Smart Kitchen is a food inventory and kitchen management app designed to help users track food freshness, manage pantry items, and generate recipe suggestions using artificial intelligence.
The app allows users to track food items, monitor expiration dates, scan NFC tags attached to food containers, generate recipe ideas based on available ingredients, and use optional AI-powered features that may consume in-app AI Credits.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect the following types of information when you use the app:
Account Information
If you create an account, we may collect your email address and authentication information in order to provide account access and synchronize your data across devices.
Food Inventory Data
Information you enter into the app such as food items, expiration dates, storage locations (fridge, freezer, pantry), and related metadata may be stored in order to provide food tracking and freshness features.
NFC Tag Data
The app may read NFC tag identifiers used to associate physical NFC tags with food containers or items tracked in the app.
Images
If you use features that analyze food items using images, photos may be submitted for AI processing to help generate freshness insights or recipe suggestions.
Usage and Device Information
Basic device and usage information may be collected to improve app performance, diagnose issues, and maintain service reliability.
Purchase, Subscription, and AI Credit Information
If you purchase premium access, subscriptions, lifetime access, or AI Credit packs, we may receive limited purchase and entitlement information from Apple and RevenueCat in order to unlock features, determine subscription status, and manage your available AI Credits.
We do not receive or store your full payment card information. Payment processing is handled by Apple through the App Store.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information collected to:
- Track food inventory and expiration dates
- Provide freshness estimates and food management insights
- Generate recipe suggestions using your available ingredients
- Associate NFC tags with food containers or tracked items
- Synchronize data across devices when accounts are used
- Determine subscription status and premium access
- Track and manage AI Credit balances and related entitlements

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
4. AI Processing
Expired.Food – Smart Kitchen uses artificial intelligence to generate recipe suggestions, food-related insights, and other optional AI-powered features.
When you request AI-powered features, certain information such as food inventory data, text prompts, notes, or images may be securely transmitted to third-party AI providers (such as OpenAI) in order to generate results.
This data is used solely to generate responses and operate the requested AI feature. We do not use your data to sell advertising profiles.
5. AI Credits
Some AI-powered features in the app require the use of in-app virtual credits called AI Credits.
AI Credits are used to meter access to certain AI requests. For example, one AI-powered request may consume one or more AI Credits depending on the feature.
AI Credits may be obtained through:
- Monthly subscriptions
- Annual subscriptions
- Lifetime purchase allocations
- Consumable in-app purchases of additional AI Credit packs
To operate these features, we may process limited entitlement and balance information through RevenueCat and Apple in order to determine whether you have available AI Credits and whether an AI request can be completed.
AI Credits themselves are a virtual in-app usage mechanism and do not contain personal information. However, records of credit grants, entitlements, and usage events may be processed to support app functionality, restore purchases, prevent abuse, and maintain service reliability.
6. Advertising
The free version of the app may display advertisements provided by third-party advertising networks such as Google AdMob.
These advertisements help support the free version of the app. The app does not use cross-app tracking for advertising purposes.
7. Subscriptions and Payments
The app may offer premium features, AI Credit packs, and subscriptions through in-app purchases processed by the Apple App Store.
Subscription purchases, consumable purchases, and billing information are handled by Apple. The app itself does not store payment card details.
8. Third-Party Services
Expired.Food – Smart Kitchen relies on certain third-party services to operate core features, including:
- OpenAI – AI-powered recipe generation and analysis
- Google AdMob – advertising for free users
- RevenueCat – subscription management, purchase entitlements, and AI Credit tracking
- Apple App Store – payment processing
These services operate under their own privacy policies.
9. Data Storage
Food inventory and account data may be stored locally on your device and, when applicable, securely stored on our servers in order to enable syncing and backup features.
Limited subscription, entitlement, and AI Credit balance information may also be processed through third-party services such as RevenueCat to enable purchase restoration and feature access.
10. Data Retention
We retain your data only for as long as necessary to provide the service or until you delete your account or request deletion of your information.
Some transaction or entitlement records may be retained for accounting, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or purchase restoration purposes.
11. Data Deletion
You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
Upon request, we will delete stored account data within a reasonable timeframe, subject to any records we must retain for legal, billing, fraud prevention, or purchase restoration purposes.
12. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, misuse, or disclosure.
However, no system can guarantee complete security.
13. Children’s Privacy
Expired.Food – Smart Kitchen is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
